First Doctor's Appointment

Emerson had her first dr's appointment on Feb 14th. We took this picture before our visit. The visit went well!! When we left the hospital Emmie had lost a little weight, she went down to 6.9lbs. She now weighs 7.1lbs and grew 3/4 of an inch which makes her 19 3/4 inches now!!! She did so good! She usually gets upset when we have to change her clothes. I think it is because she gets cold. We had to take her clothes off for her to be weighed and examined, she didn't get upset at all!! She was so good that I got her some bling pacifiers!!!

Well She Is Here...

Our precious baby had finally arrived and on her actual due date!! She is already an over achieverl!! Ha!Ha! Well, we think she is the most beautiful baby in the world! Miss Emerson was born at 4:49pm on Feb 7, 2007. She weighed 6lbs 13oz and is 19 inches long.
So here is how that day went...
I woke up around 6am that morning and felt pressure. I wasn't sure if the pressure was contractions or not. They continued every 5 min so on our way into work I decided to call the dr. He thought I might be in early labor but wanted to see me at 9:30am to make sure. So, I decided to go on into work. I was scared to tell anyone because I didn't want to feel like a fool if I wasn't in labor.
So, I make it to the dr office where I have to wait an hour because the dr on call is already delivering a baby. I finally got checked and they said I was at 3 cm and that they were sending me over to the hospital!!! It didn't feel real...I was going to have her that day!
To our surprise a friend of ours, Dana, was working and was going to be our nurse!! I am so glad she was, she made me feel so comfortable!! So, I got there around 11 am and got checked in. I got my epidural around noon. I progressed a little. Then I progressed from 6cm to 10cm in around 30 minutes! The epidural was AWESOME!!! I never felt a contraction!! I just felt pressure but it wasn't bad pressure. So, then I started pushing and had her in about 30-45 more minutes!!
It was the greatest moment! Gregg is SOOOO awesome with her! He is so patient and helps me to more calm and less stressed. She is the most beautiful little girl! And the love we have for her is unexplainable! Well, I guess that is enough babbling. I know you guys would like to see some pictures. So, here is our beautiful Miss Emerson Taylor Kathleen!

Update...
The dr said I am progressing well and that he likes for his patients to try to go naturally meaning without the induction. He also measured me and said that she doesn't appear to be a big baby. So, I am assuming that means 6-7 lbs. We heard the heart beat and it sounded good and strong!
I am in such a good mood now that I know she will be here by the 16th if not sooner! We have a new count down...possibly 10 more day until Emerson Taylor Kathleen will be here!!!!!

Week 39

Well, I had a dr's appointment today. I am still dilated to 1 cm but I am effaced 70%. So, I need to go 30% and 9 more cm!! If she isn't here, I go back on Tuesday, Feb 5th, and I think we will talk induction at that time. Everyone has there bets on when she will be born. A lot of people at Gregg's work thinks tomorrow or this weekend. There is a full moon and they think she will come because of that. So we will see!I have gotten over the nervousness of child birth but now I am nervous about being a mom. I just want to be the best for her! I want to do the best! I am so excited for her to get here! I am ready to see what she looks like, to hold her, love her!!

A Newborn's Conversation With God
A newborn's conversation with God:
A baby asked God, "They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?"
God said, "Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you."
The child further inquired,"But tell me, here in heaven I don't have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy."
God said,"Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you. And you will feel your angel's love and be very happy."
Again the child asked, "And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don't know the language?"
God said, "Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak."
"And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?"
God said, "Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray."
"Who will protect me?"
God said, "Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life."
"But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore."
God said, "Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach you the way to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you."
At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, "God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel's name."
God said,You will simply call her, "Mom."

Week 38

Well, here we go again!! 38 WEEKS!!! How exciting!! I had a Dr's appointment yesterday. I am still dilated at 1 cm but he said that he can tell she has dropped more. I believe him because I have felt some pressure pretty low for the last couple of days. He said everything looks good. I will have to have antibiotics given to me when I check in to the hospital. I was positive for Group Strep B. It is a bacteria that is no big deal for me but can harm the baby when she is delivered. There is nothing I did but by having the antibiotic it will protect her from getting sick.Well, we are as ready as we are going to be for her! We got the car seat installed last week and the bags have been packed for about 2 weeks. We have the pack'n'play set up by the bed. I have all the items I need washed. Toni is bringing us Emmie's baskets for the changing table on Saturday. There are still some little things we need to do in the room but it is all decorating related. No biggy!
I forgot to post the other pictures of the wreath and name hang. They are so cute! We plan on hanging the wreath on Emerson's door at the hospital!

Week 37

3 more weeks!!! How exciting!! Not much to report...I still feel about the same. I am getting a little nervous but still excited. We have the bags packed and they are in the car! I hope to get the car seat installed this week. I plan on letting them do that at ACH. This way I know it has been installed correctly!Gregg's work had a baby shower for us on Monday. Here are some pics from the shower.

This onesie says "I love my daddy" on the front and on the back in a heart on her bottom says "and my daddy loves me"

This onesie says "worth the wait" And it is right, she will be worth the wait!!
And I would like to do a little advertising for a co-worker of mine. Casey painted these CUTE letters for me. She made the precious wreath and adorable name plaque!! She is so creative!! Thanks again Casey for helping make Emerson's room so cute!!!

Well, I guess I have posted my limit of pictures because it won't let me add any more. So, I will add the other pics later.

Week 36

4 MORE WEEKS!!!! I am so excited and ready!! Well, things are about the same. My feet and hands are swelling again, still get the leg cramp, indigestion and all that stuff. A new thing...I had contractions Monday night. I woke up around 3 am in lots of pain. We started timing them. They would go from 5 min to 7 min to 15 min to 5 min to 30 min. So, very sporadic. I called the dr the next morning and the nurse told me that it was just my body practicing, getting ready for her to come! I felt a little silly but oh well. She told me that when the contractions are 4-5 min apart for an hour or if my water brakes to come in. Another neat thing is that I can tell when she is sleeping and when she is awake, or at least today I could. She moved for like 2 hours today!! I loved it!! And then she was asleep for about 2 hours or at least I didn't feel her move again for another couple of hours! It is so amazing!! I was looking at her last 3D ultrasounds last night wondering what she will look like! I can't wait to hold her and love on her!!

Emerson's Room
Like painting her wooden letters.
Here is her little reading area! We plan on covering her little chair sometime.
We still have to get the baskets and the changing pad for the changing table. My mom will make a hot pink cover for the changing pad and the basket liners are made out of her bedding material. Nana is making the liners for us.
We are getting a black cover for the chair and Nana is going to make us a blanket out of Emmie's bedding material. The blanket will be on the chair. We are going to get a little table for next to the chair. And those are some little knick knacks on the chair. We plan on hanging them also. My sister is coming over this weekend, she is my interior decorator. Hopefully we will get everything hung!
And here is her bedding!! We still need the the hot pink sheet. My mom is going to make that for her once we find material to match. There are way to many shades of pink out there! And I can't find the right one. After writing this it seems like we still have a lot to do but we really don't. I am ready for Emerson to be here so she can enjoy her room also!!Wednesday, January 03, 2007
35 Weeks

Ok, so 5 more weeks!! I am ready!! Not much has changed...I am still tired and hurt. She is still moving like crazy but it feels different. I can't explain it! I love watching my belly move around. I had a dr's appointment yesterday. I thought I would start going weekly but my next appointment will be Jan 16th. Then I will start going weekly. Maybe I will be dilated by then!!You know I heard stories about the crazy things that people say to pregnant people. What I can't stand is how I have had a few people make comments on how big I am. Ok people, I know I am getting bigger and I am suppose to be I AM HAVING A BABY!!! BUT...just some advice DON'T tell a pregnant person she is big. My self esteem isn't the highest. I don't feel very attractive so don't go on and on about how big I am! Ok, I am exaggerating a bit but my advice is either don't say anything at all or lie if you have to!!! Sorry, I will get off my soap box!!
Oh, I have to tell you that I have the sweetest and best husband!! Last night I woke up around 3am with my hips hurting. For some reason Gregg woke up shortly after. I told him I was in a lot of pain and the emotional me started crying. He just held me and ask if there was anything he could do. Then the sweet moment...
Gregg-"If I haven't told you, Thank You."
Me-"For what?"
Gregg-"For carrying our baby."
Me-"You're welcome." While crying even more!
I love you Gregg and thanks for being such a great husband!!
