A Good Message

I received this e-mail today and it is so good that I wanted to post it. It is called....

Breakfast at McDonald's

I am a mother of three (ages 14, 12, 3) and have recently completed my college degree. The last class I had to take was Sociology. The teacher was absolutely inspiring with the qualities that I wish every human being had been graced with. Her last project of the term was called "Smile." The class was asked to go out and smile at three people and document their reactions. I am a very friendly person and always smile at everyone and say hello anyway, so, I thought this would be a piece of cake, literally. Soon after we were assigned the project, my husband, youngest son, and I went out to McDonald's one crisp March morning. It was just our way of sharing special playtime with our son. We were standing in line, waiting to be served, when all of a sudden everyone around us began to back away, and then even my husband did. I did not move an inch... an overwhelming feeling of panic welled up inside of me as I turned to see why they had moved. As I turned around I smelled a horrible "dirty body" smell, and there standing behind me were two poor homeless men. As I looked down at the short gentleman, close to me, he was "smiling". His beautiful sky blue eyes were full of God's light as he searched for acceptance. He said, "Good day" as he counted the few coins he had been clutching. The second man fumbled with his hands as he stood behind his friend. I realized the second man was mentally challenged and the blue-eyed gentleman was his salvation. I held my tears as I stood there with them. The young lady at the counter asked him what they wanted. He said, "Coffee is all Miss" because that was all they could afford. (If they wanted to sit in the restaurant and warm up, they had to buy something. He just wanted to be warm). Then I really felt it - the compulsion was so great I almost reached out and embraced the little man with the blue eyes. That is when I noticed all eyes in the restaurant were set on me, judging my every action. I smiled and asked the young lady behind the counter to give me two more breakfast meals on a separate tray. I then walked around the corner to the table that the men had chosen as a resting spot. I put the tray on the table and laid my hand on the blue-eyed gentleman's cold hand. He looked up at me, with tears in his eyes, and said, "Thank you." I leaned over, began to pat his hand and said, "I did not do this for you. God is here working through me to give you hope." I started to cry as I walked away to join my husband and son. When I sat down my husband smiled at me and said, "That is why God gave you to me, Honey, to give me hope." We held hands for a moment and at that time, we knew that only because of the grace that we had been given were we able to give. We are not church goers, but we are believers. That day showed me the pure light of God's sweet love. I returned to college, on the last evening of class, with this story in hand. I turned in "my project" and the instructor read it. Then she looked up at me and said, "Can I share this?" I slowly nodded as she got the attention of the class. She began to read and that is when I knew that we as human beings and being part of God share this need to heal people and to be healed. In my own way I had touched the people at McDonald's, my husband, son, instructor, and every soul that shared the classroom on the last night I spent as a college student. I graduated with one of the biggest lessons I would ever learn: UNCONDITIONAL ACCEPTANCE. Much love and compassion is sent to each and every person who may read this and learn how to LOVE PEOPLE AND USE THINGS - NOT LOVE THINGS AND USE PEOPLE. Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart. To handle yourself, use your head. To handle others, use your heart. God gives every bird it's food, but He does not throw it into its nest.

The Smell of Winter....

Don't you just love that smell? You know, when it gets cold outside and you smell the crisp air and fireplaces burning. I associate it with Christmas also!!! Well, any way it has finally gotten cold here. And boy did it get cold, it hit 24 degrees last night!!! I know...WOW!!! It is so pretty out! The sun is shining, the leaves are falling and I can FINALLY wear my winter clothes!! Yea!!!

Moving In...

Well, Gregg and I are going home this weekend to start moving in our stuff!! Yea!!!! Then I am going to stay the rest of the week to unpack all boxes. We will finally get to see and use our stuff from our wedding!!! So, it will be like Christmas for me while I am unpacking. I am so excited!!

I am going to miss Gregg though! The dogs will be with me which will help. They are going to love it! They will get to go outside and play all day! I am also ready to see everyone! It has been awhile since I have been home this long.

I will be there for Halloween. The previous owners told us that it is very busy around there. They suggested that we sit in a lawn chair in our driveway and hand out candy. So, I guess I will do that Monday night. It should be fun and I might meet some of our neighbors!! I hope the dogs don't go crazy, barking and all. We don't want to start out on the wrong foot with the neighborhood!

Well, we are ready to see everyone!! You guys are more than welcome to come and visit me. Watch out I might put you to work!!! Heehee!!! Just kidding!!! See you soon!!!

EXHAUSTED!!!!!!!

Well, the weekend wasn't exactly like we planned. I got my hair cut, YEA!!!! It feels so great!! I was able to make it to the baby shower for about 15 min. Casey, I don't know if you read this but, you are the cutest thing!!! Her belly is so cute!!! Then off to the b-day party we went. We had a great time!!!! We acted like we were teenagers, staying out until 2:30am. So needless to say we didn't make it to church. :(

We made it to Stuttgart and packed up a few things. We had dinner with my parents, Toni, Dale, Ashley, Nick, Jeremy, Melissa and Audrey. It was good to see everyone! Audrey, I hope your little belly is feeling better. Audrey, is our niece. She is getting so big!

So, this is the CRAZY day, Monday......

We meet everyone at the house to do the final walk through. We get there running only 5 min late and the Best Buy truck is already there. They were suppose to be there between 9-11am but try like 8:45. So, they unload our refrigerator to find out it may not fit. Uh oh!!!! We will have time to mess with it because we will not be able to sign the papers until noon, or so we thought!

So, everyone leaves and we decide to mess with the refrigerator. Well, me, Jo Ann and Gregg shove it in the hole and go figure, we went to far. We can't open the freezer door. This might be a problem. At this point I am thinking....why didn't we pay the extra $40 to let the Best Buy guys put this together for us???? But long story short and 45 min later we got it put in its right spot.

So, now it is about 1:30pm and we still haven't signed the papers. We decide to go eat. CRACKER BARREL!!!! Yum!!! Then go to Wal-Mart. It is 3pm no papers so we pick up the dogs from the kennel. I have to brag a moment....they said they were so good and sweet!!! They said they want to keep them. I am so proud of them. I mean I know they are sweet but they get so hyper. Ok, so now it is 4/4:30pm and we are going back to the house to wait. We wait about another hour. Letting the dogs play in their new yard and us "kids" play on the swing set in the backyard. At around 6pm, we get a call to meet them at the title company!!!! We get there and wait another 30/45 min. FINALLY, sign all the papers!!! SO, WE FINALLY HAVE A HOUSE!!!!! It is ours!!!! Now we are on our way back to Stuttgart to drop off JoAnn and get our stuff. We leave Stuttgart at 9:30pm and get to Birmingham at 3:30am.

Bless Gregg's little heart, he had to get up at 6am. Lucky him, he is in surgery this week, which means he has to be at work at 7am. So, he is working on 2 hours sleep. But, once again we got the house!!!! And, we are ready to have everyone over to hang out!!!!! Look foward to seeing everyone!!!! Have a great week!!!

Going To Be A Busy Weekend!!

Well, we are leaving for AR tomorrow morning. We are going to try to leave AL by 6:00am!! I know, way to early but we have a lot to do. When we get to LR we are going to take the dogs to the kennel. One of my friends, Jennifer, is getting married. So, we are going to try on some bridesmaid dresses. After that I am going to get my haircut. And it needs cut BADLY!!!! Then I am going to go to a baby shower and then at 7:00pm we are going to go to a surprise birthday party. Oh man, I am already tired!!!!

Then on Sunday, we plan to go to church at Church at Rock Creek. Yeah!!! I love that church!!! Then it will be off Stuttgart we go to pack up stuff. I know my parents and my sister are excited. They have been storing ALL of our stuff for over a year!!! Yeah, they are good people!!!! I am ready to unpack. It will be like Christmas!!! We never used any of our wedding gifts because we knew we were about to move. So, once again YEAH!!!!

Then on Monday, we will have to leave Stuttgart about 7:00am. We have to go to the house and make sure they left it in good shape, cleaned, etc. Then we go sign the papers for the house at 9:00am!!!!! Then it is back to the house to unload our cars and wait for the refrigerator to be delivered. Then go pick up our doggies and back to AL. Wow, what a weekend it will be!!!!

Shop! Shop! Shop!

So, this weekend Gregg and I looked for the necessities for the house. You know refrigerator, washing machine, dryer, mattress for the bed that we don't have, etc. Well, we found 2 items!! We bought the softest mattress and the coolest refrigerator. And we got a GOOD deal on both!!!!It is so funny when you get excited about a mattress and a refrigerator!!! So, we might be sleeping on a mattress and box springs for a while because I can't find the bedroom set that I want. I am being picky!!!! Well, we sign on our house on the 17th, one more week. We will be home owners!!!!!

Exciting Weekend!!!

We had a very exciting weekend....we bought a house!!! Saturday, Gregg and I looked at houses ALL day long!!! We started at 9:00am and signed papers on our house at 9:00pm that night. We looked in Benton, Bryant, Harmony Grove, Alexander and Maumelle. We found the house in Bryant!! Our real estate agent was awesome!!! This house wasn't even on the list for us to look at. It was for sale by owner. She asked us if we liked the house and she called to see if we could look at it.

When we walked in, I was like this is it!!! I forgot to take pictures but we have to come home this weekend for the inspection. So, I will take pictures then and post then later!!! It is on a BIG lot. Our doggies will finally have a big yard!!! We are so excited!! Will post the pictures later!!!

PLEASE Give to a Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund

It has been so sad watching the news lately. I was watching a special they had on the hurricane last night and I couldn't quit crying. I want to do something to help! People have been so generous. There are people here in Atlanta that are allowing people to live with them. The generosity of everyone has amazed me! My dad said that there are people from Louisiana and Mississippi in Stuttgart. The Baptist church, along with many others, are opening their doors for people to stay there. I was reading an e-mail from Arkansas Children's Hospital and all this week they have used one of their helicopters to pick patients, deliver food, etc. to New Orleans. Delta Airlines is flying people for free from New Orleans to Atlanta. Houston, TX has been giving nonstop. And the list goes on and on!!!!

I ask for everyone to give to the American Red Cross www.redcross.org, Feed the Children www.feedthechildren.org, or any relief fund!!! Look in your closets, give old clothes or even buy new clothes. I feel so helpless!! It just breaks my heart!! I just want to help in some way!!!

Everyone please say a prayer for the individuals who were associated with Hurricane Katrina!! Pray for a quick repair of these states! I pray for the health of these individuals! That these individuals get the food and water they need and the evacuation of these individual to a safer place! I pray that this will only make our country stronger and more united!
